Synopsis

Album Description
Sparse and complicated, thick and topical, the many mood swings of Landspeedrecord! prefigure the rock as an art outfit motif. Tense, terse introductions lead to stark vocal poetics that fight the limitations of both song structure and rhythm. Dropping chord progressions into a pit of dissemblance, then re-awaking the vibe with thrashing yet substantive instrumental melees, Landspeedrecord! are seminal misfits, strange crafters of the ebb and flow of textured melody. With periodic flavoring, Landspeedrecord hits multiple veins of pleasurable irony, with the oddly twisting and melodically schizophrenic songs Little Ms. Depacote, that blend nicely but retroactively with simmering phase shifters like Karmic Black Hole. Hitting all kinetic cylinders, Why Ask Why ferments between quantum drums and raw cello licks, the odd instrumental additive that is now a Landspeedrecord! signature. Oedipus Rex Applause subverts all the poststructural cruddiness that makes contemporary rock blasé, dropping a quirky melodic blast that mixes form and style, enmity and hype, a fitting tribute to the raw musical dexterity of Landspeedrecord!
