Product DescriptionLarry Coryell's recordings for Vanguard and Arista - as part of Eleventh House - made him one of the most successful jazz guitarists of the 1970s. He only made a short stop off at Flying Dutchman, where he recorded two albums, one live at Montreux and this incendiary studio workout that ranks as one of the best of his career, issued in 1972.Recorded at the Electric Ladyland Studio in New York, the opening, Gypsy Queen, sees him and saxophonist Steve Marcus duelling with a percussion line-up three: Roy Haynes, Lawrence Killian and Harry Wilkinson. Bass player Mervin Bronson and Mike Mandel on keyboards complete the personnel for an album which develops the challenging electric modal jazz over the remaining two tracks.
