"Larry Goldings mines the lyrical vein of mainstream jazz piano trio music and comes up with a gem. Fans of his wonderfully greasy organ trio may not know what to make of this - which perhaps explains why Warner deleted this excellent CD from their catalog - but those who appreciate the piano trios of Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett will feel right at home here. Drawing on the best influences - the gospel tinged rolling chords of Jarrett ("Many Rivers to Cross", "Sticky Mack"), the French impressionist composers Ravel and Faure ("Intermezzo" and "Libera Me"), the angular harmonies of Thelonius Monk ("Into Paluma") - Larry present a moody, affecting, beautiful hour of music. Great stuff!"
