Last Forever is the creation of Dick Connette, a composer who has found an original and personal voice by losing himself in the vocabulary of American traditional music. Out of fiddle tunes and field hollers, by way of Bo Diddley, Samuel Beckett and Steve Reich, Last Forever takes a new musical approach to the simplicity, clarity, and eccentric beauty of American folk and popular traditions. By writing for a core ensemble of violin, spinet, hammer dulcimer, and harmonium, supplemented by strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, Connette evokes the traditional instrumental palette, while extending its timbral range. Above all, it is the close and creative collaboration with vocalist Sonya Cohen, a member of the Seeger family with a lifelong connection to folksong's oral tradition, that literally gives voice to Connette's vision.

This special 23 song package contains two complete albums including 'Last Forever', the groundbreaking debut recording originally released on Nonesuch in 1997, as well as unreleased songs and instrumentals recorded from 1988-2008.
