"A veritable tour de force by a new young virtuoso violist. One of the most beautiful and unique viola sound I have ever listened to, coupled with an absolute technical mastery of the instrument and a profound artistic understanding of the very different styles of the presented repertoire. Her rendering of the traditional Brahms and Schumann works are among the best ever recorded. The contemporary pieces undoubtedly in the hands of an expert.Barroso's Viola Desnuda is a gem with all the ingredients to become soon regular repertoire among viola virtuosos. Cage's selected Freeman Etudes (transcribed by Barroso and Wilcox) sounds to me more powerfull, rich and interesting than in its original violin setting. I'm sure Cage would have loved them. Patch's Samhain for viola and piano a charming surrealist work.Excellent pianists (Poulin and Clarke). Wonderfully recorded in Montreal by SNE. Bravo!"

"With Laura's command of her instrument, it is as though she holds an artist's paintbrush in her hand, rather than a large bow!"
