"Here is a post from As I Lay Dying's website to fans who want this album:
"Please stop paying $40 - $75 for our old CD's on used CD websites! This May we're re-releasing our first two recordings previously out on Pluto Records. Both "Beneath the Encasing of Ashes", which was recorded two months after the band started, and our split EP songs, which were recorded a year later, will both be on one CD. Wait until May and you'll spend less than $15 to get two CD's worth of material. Understand that it is old material, but you'll be suprised hearing what we did to some of the songs to make them sound clearer."
SO PLEASE DON'T PAY RIDICULOUS PRICES TO OTHER PEOPLE. WAIT AND SUPPORT THE BAND WITH YOUR MONEY!!!"
Well worth it for the 5 As I Lay Dying tracks

"Be sure to pick this up if your a fan of the increasingly popular metalcore band As I Lay Dying. All of their tracks on here are fantastic although the only downside is getting stuck with the American Tragedy songs which I thought were terrible. So get this and enjoy their older work(although most of these are now on Frail Words Collapse). Be sure to listen to tracks 1 and 3 which are amazing."
AILD rips

"5 sweet tracks from AILD: more melodic, still brutal. AT's pretty good & if you like them, great. But AILD rips (how can you beat a Faulkner title for a bandname?!?!) I also recommend Falling Cycle's "Conflict," Redeem's "Diadem of Beauty," Grace For the Fallen's "Field of Blood," Soterios' "Blinding Pain of Unspoken Words," Nodes of Ranvier, Life In Your Way, Hopesfall, Spite of Opposition, Solace, Face of Humanity, Underoath, Chalice, & Zao (of course). (If you like your melody in a DM v. HC package, check out Soul Embraced, Thy Pain & Anaemia: rips, rips, rips).(Postscript: Falling Cycle & AILD totally rip busted 'Shadows Fall' & make In Flames' "Clayman" sound like girltalk. Grow up, critics.)"
