With this latest album, Layla takes her musical and life experiences to a deeper, more personal level than anything in her previous work. Experimenting with odd-meters in Latin and World Jazz, this is Layla s first album featuring her vocals on several compositions. Not only does she sing, she has written and arranged most of the music and plays both Alto and Soprano Saxes. Endorsed by Keilwerth Saxophones and Sonare Wind Flutes, Layla exclusively plays her Shadow Keilwerth alto Saxophone on MIENTRAS.... This CD was recorded at Kaleidoscope studios in New York by Dan Fleisher and at David Lange Studio s in Fife, WA. Mastered with Rick Fisher at RFI Mastering. CD ReviewsGreat CD after one or one HUNDRED listens!!! J. Cohn | Mexico City | 07/05/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "Miss Angulo's new CD is So beautiful and sophisticated all at the same time. My favorite song on the CD is "Que Te Valla Bien"-- and even without understanding all the spanish, I can still get a sense for what the song is saying, clearly by the vibe in which she delivers the vocals. I love both her sexy commanding voice and her Sax playing!
The whole CD is a great ride and it's really amazing that she wrote, composed and arranged all of this music as well as worked with such a great line-up of musicians, including someone that worked with Ricky Martin! This CD isn't just for jazz or latin music lovers, but for anyone who enjoys latin or jazz influenced pop music like Norah Jones, or even a little bit of Gloria Estefan... this CD has it all, and a sound that is a one of a kind!" |
