"--Leclair is one of my favorite composers---the recordings of his violin concerti by Simon Standage and Monica Hugget are excellent and i recomend them without reservation.....However, this recording is somewhat uneven....Elizabeth Wallfisch is an excellent musician, --the slow movements are played wonderfully, ....but unfortunately the Allegros, Vivace, and Prestos are played here kind of... "rough and scratchy"... a sound that comes from a well rozened bow being dragged accross the strings too slowly...used occasionally it accents and adds drama--if overdone the result is a violin music that is not pretty....the last sonata on this album is the best...and is played the best...the Ciacona is perfect--one could even call it sublime.....created from the energy of bliss...thrilling...it's good"
