Amazing Single

"Usually when someone from a boy/girl pop band pursues a solo career, their efforts are weak or disappointing (Victoria Beckham anyone?). That is not the case with Lee Ryan, formerly of the UK pop group Blue, which disbanded in 2004.
Lee's voice is soulful, and that is evident on the A-Side of this single "Turn Your Car Around" which is my favourite track on his debut album. "Turn Your Car Around" is a guitar based mid-tempo ballad that showcases Lee's amazing vocal talent. I have interpreted the lyrics as saying that he wants to put a crumbling relationship back together.
The B-Side is a live cover of a Foo Fighters song called "Best of You" recorded on a BBC radio program called Radio 1 Live Lounge. Now, I've never heard the original version of the song, but Lee sings it here beautifully. He is accompanied on this song by an acoustic guitar, piano and hand heald drums. There is a hint of a violin and chimes towards the middle section, but for the most part it's just him singing with the piano and guitar. His voice sounds haunted and powerful in the simple acoustic setting.
This is a great single, and definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of Blue, Lee Ryan or just a fan of great pop music."
