CD ReviewsLeeway's Adult Crash, Product of the 90's. Flash Gordon | Mongo | 11/04/2006 (3 out of 5 stars) "[...]
In the year 1994, Leeway put out their follow up album to DESPERATE MEASURES, ADULT CRASH. By this year, the band was basically broken up. They had a handful of songs they were working on which would eventually end up on ADULT CRASH. The music is by far nothing like BORN TO EXPIRE, OR DESPERATE MEASURES. With the loss of their one guitar player, Michael Gibbons, the band was no longer playing the heavy, raw, riffs that fans were use to. Instead of being ahead of it's time as they did with their previous two albums, Leeway's ADULT CRASH is very much an album of the year 1994. When bands like Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden ruled the airwaves, ADULT CRASH seems to fall right in with the current scene of commercail music. The hardcore fans of Leeway will totally frisbee this disc across the room before giving it a chance. Even though the music does suffer from lack of rawness, there are some songs that maybe worth a listen. By no means think you are going to hear anything as great as their first two albums. Leeway's ADULT CRASH is a victim of the time. Going back and listening to it now, 12 years after it's release, you can totally compare it to the music that has come out since then. So perhaps, this album was not so far behind the times as once thought? Overall, worth a listen, good to have to complete your Leeway collection, but do not expect much from it." |
