Synopsis

Product Description
The Legend of Guqin featuring 9 tracks of traditional Chinese music performed on the guqin by Shan Kiu. She is accompanied on the album by the Daya Academy conducted by Nai-Chung Kuan.

As is the case with the recent releases from the FIM label, The Legend of Guqin features a hard cover album package and liner notes that comes with a plastic slip cover. It's a very elegant packaging of the album. FIM owner Winston Ma says that this new Multichannel Super Audio CD is in a league with his company's SACD of "River of Sorrow" which is well known for its sonics among audiophiles. According to Ma "The immediate reception of this new album is just phenomenal. Audiophiles who have bought it have unanimously used it as the yeardstick for testing dynamics, harmonics and soundstage."

CD Reviews

Superb CC that you shouldn't miss!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am a fan of Guqin and have been learning to play this ancient 7 string muscial instructment. The first piece is a very interesting concerto - It is a mixture of different Chinese musical instrutments and paino - a strong contrasting piece for east meets east. My favorite are the songs that the Kiao Shan sings. These are not the modern Chinese pop music but rather the very ancicent music piece - you have to listen with your heart to feel the songs. Close your eyes imagine there is a sad Chinese young girl, sitting inside a pavillion in her private back garden, groomed with differeng colos of peach blossom, playing on her guqin, trying to sing you the story that she hardly tells anyone.

This is a really excellent CD that a guqin fan should not miss!"
