Legs Diamond's Best

"This is the long awaited CD release of the best that Legs Diamond has to offer. I have waited 20 years to get a good clean copy of this one. Legs Diamond was a hot hard rock band out of L.A. in the late 70s, although they never reached the commercial success they were shooting for. "A Diamond Is A Hard Rock" was their second release and features the best the band had to offer. Roger Romeo's guitar work is straighforward, powerful and dominates the sound of the band. Rick Sanford has an unmistakable voice. There is not a bad song on the album which ranges from the hard rocking title track to "Woman", which might loosely be described as a power ballad. If you like late-seventies hard rock you have to have this one. I'd also recommend their first (Legs Diamond) and third (Firepower) releases."

"I have waited nearly 15 years to hear this again, and it is indeed music to my ears! I first heard of them when I saw them open up for Ted Nugent and Golden Earring in 1977. Those bands were very good that night, but Legs took a backseat to no one. Very strong musically, this band really seemed to be very sure of themselves. Title track is good, repeats itself too much. Waiting is one of my favorites, good head music with a good bass line. Woman is just outstanding songwriting and guitar work. They should have been more acclaimed than they were and are. I hadn't heard this since I switched over to C.D. in around 1985. THANK YOU to whoever made this C.D. possible!"

"I first purchased this album (and I do mean album) when it came out in the 1970's. From that moment on its been one of my favorite rock albums. Finding this on CD was like bringing back my youth for 40 minutes at a time. I don't think there thas been but maybe 10 albums in my life that I loved so much that I wore them out not once but also a second one. I can honestly say that I have been searching for this album on CD since the late 80's and now I have it and it still sounds as good today as it did back then. Legs Diamond was a wonderful band in the LA rock scene and "A diamond is a hard rock" was there best effort ever. Buy this album if you like 70's rock, you won't be disappointed."

"The second release from Hollywood rockers Legs Diamond. The original release was on Mercury Records and was an excellent follow-up to their debut. It was, and still is, hard to believe a band could put out two consecutive albums where every song was a choice cut. I'm not sure I remember all of the band, but here goes: Rick Sanford[vocals/flute], Roger Romeo[guitars], Mike Prince[keyboards/guitars], Jeff Poole[drums], and Michael Prince[bass].The song selection here is uncanny, no filler, except for the bonus track "High School Queen". I always like to talk about the songs I enjoy most on a disc, but there are too many to choose from. My definite favorite, though, would be "Woman', which is a slow ballad about the price of a relationship. A fun tune is "I Think I Got It". Some great rock in "Evil", which is song 7 and 8 on my disc, "Flying Too High", "Jailbait", "A Diamond is a Hard Rock", and "Waiting".There are comparisons to Deep Purple, but all I can say is that's a bad analogy, other than they're both bands with 5 members. Legs Diamond's music is very original to me, as is their playing style. They put on an excellent show and their sound live is exceptional. This band has 5 albums, which are great and in my top 100. A DIAMOND IS A HARD ROCK is definitely one of them, too! This music on this CD sounds as fresh to me today as it did 25 years ago in college. I have to give this absolutely 3 thumbs up!"
