"The downtempo/chillout genre, as shown by Thievery Corporation, Air, Zero 7, millions of complilations, is an extremely crappy genre. Sure, some of bands (most likely Thievery Corporation and Zero 7) boast some good ideas, but the execution is total crap. Lemon Jelly, along with Royksopp, are the only two bands in the genre that are worth listening to.



What makes Lemon Jelly so good? These guys are no cookie cutter chillout group. Lemon Jelly don't contain with any of the lame chillout symptoms: Inorganic sounds, limitless beats, that extremely stupid and cliche shimmer sound, lack of memorable melodies, hardly infectious, faceless music, and the overall elevator muzak feel. Lemon Jelly are not ordinary, with extremely organic instrumentation (you'd be surprised how many real instruments are heard), great atmosphere, and aural sunshine that will enlighten you and your day at the same time. Lemon Jelly are very special the chillout genre. In the electronic genre in general, Lemon Jelly are a great group.



Lemon Jelly's Lost Horizons doesn't have a single bad track on it. Many of these tracks are unique. The most well known song on here, Nice Weather For Ducks, is fantastic. Starting out with relaxing sounds of rain and a guy singing about ducks, it just gets extremely charming, and by the time the jazzy rhumba kicks in, you will be wanting to move, and even the most unhappy person would have trouble not cracking a smile (also, watch the music video). Space Walk and Elements, the two punch, are great, both shimmering, songs that float in the air.n Ramblin Man is great to, with a live recorded converstation between two people, with layers of shimmering music and country guitar.



Another favorite of mind is Experiment No. 6. While this song is hardly happy, it's extremely creepy and boasts signature one of a kind Lemon Jelly with shades of Amon Tobin (that is a VERY good thing). Closer is a shimmer song, and the beat skips with twinkling, gorgeous guitars. Return To Patagonia, a very long song, feels very shady and relaxing. THe other monster track, The Curse of Ka Zar, starts out mellow, cold, and foreboding, but emerges into something on a grand scale.



Lemon Jelly is not faceless, this album has character. THis album has charm. This album will relax you and take you to a better place. Hey, just check out Urban Dictionary. One of the definitions describes a Lemon Jelly as a state where everything is happy. Great word derived from a great band. Get this album or be lame forever, along with Melody A.M., another chillout classic.
