"Life ain't fair, how can so much talent go to people from the same family!Since I first came across this all-girl group through the haunting English air 'Greensleeves' 30 years ago, I've been a fan. Now with their Yesterday And Today album, I'll go to the end of the world for them! What a terrific group of singers these Lennon sisters are (and they are gorgeous too!). They are wonderful to listen to especially when they do those old 1950 and 1960 standards. When they beckon me to take a trip to my old hometown (Sentimental Journey), how can I resist and say no? When they tell me that simple miracles really do happen (Scarlet Ribbons), I can't see a reason not to believe. The Lennon Sisters can make a simple goodbye (Vaya Con Dios) sound so poignant, turn the celebration of love into such aching tenderness (When I Fall In Love, Melody Of Love, This Is My Song, Fascination, Can't Help Falling In Love) and separation into a heart-breaking experience (Autumn Leaves).Another thing that makes this album so great is its laid-back and simple instrumental background which allows full spotlight to focus on the perfect harmony and beautiful blending of voices of the Lennon Sisters.Dianne, Kathy, Peggy and Janet, thank you for sharing your gift of music."

"These four sisters achieved their greatest fame on American television. Their recordings seem to consist exclusively of cover versions, but that's fine by me because they are so brilliantly performed. These songs are from widely different sources, including traditional folk (Scarborough fair, Greensleeves) and French songs translated into English (Fascination, Autumn leaves). Among the other covers here are Sentimental journey, Scarlet ribbons, When I fall in love, There I've said it again (an American number one for Vaughn Monroe in 1945 and for Bobby Vinton in 1964), Now is the hour, This is my song and You'll never walk alone. You don't have to remember their TV appearances to enjoy their music - being British, I never knew about them until a couple of years ago - but if you do remember them, this collection may well give you even greater pleasure than it brings me."

"It's hard to write reviews for the Lennon Sisters, as it's just too hard to put what they can do down on paper. Stunningly beautiful, haunting music from yesterday, that will never be equalled. They sound like angels, and they take you away to another place. This album is totally wonderful. Great songs, but in the hands of the Lennon Sisters they are just otherworldly. My personal favorites on here are Anniversary Song (I had never known this one, it was before my time, but it is gorgeous), their Scarlet Ribbons is simple and beautiful, Greensleeves is one of my favorites of all times, another haunting, gorgeous arrangement by them, and their Scarborough Fair is very different and takes a little getting used to, but once you do, you never want to hear it any other way. Their version of Autumn Leaves brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I just can't say enough good about these beautiful girls, and the absolutely stunningly beautiful music that they make together. However glowing my recommendation of this CD, it doesn't come close to doing it justice."

"The Lennon Sisters were clearly one of the best vocal acts to ever enter a recording studio; the beautiful songs and ballads on this album prove it! These fine ladies are in perfect form all throughout the album and that's grand. The quality of the sound is excellent and I like the artwork, too.
Every tune's a winner on this CD; but of course I have my favorites as you will, too. "Sentimental Journey" has fantastic brass and more to accompany the sisters as they sing and harmonize this to perfection--and beyond! They swing gently to make this number shine brighter than silver and gold, too; and I'm very impressed. The "Anniversary Song" gets the royal treatment from the sisters who deliver this with panache and great sensitivity; and I love it every moment of it. "Scarlet Ribbons" charms me with its exquisite arrangement, too. Listen also for The Lennon Sisters to do a superb job on songs including the classic "Vaya Con Dios" which has them singing in both English and Spanish; "When I Fall In Love" with the strings enhancing the musical arrangement; a perfect rendition of "There I've Said It Again;" "Melody Of Love" that again showcases their flawless harmonizing and "This Is My Song" that couldn't have been done better by another sister act.
"Fascination" is yet another ageless song that sounds brilliant even in our times when The Lennon Sisters sing it; and I really like the theme from "A Summer Place." The music fits in perfectly with their vocals although wisely the musicians never try to steal the show away from The Lennon Sisters--they remain squarely in the spotlight which is right where they belong! "You Are So Beautiful" has an elegant arrangement that I could never tire of hearing; and these sisters do great justice to "Can't Help Falling in Love" as well.
"Autumn Leaves" has them handling complex tempo and key changes like the pros they always were and still remain! That piano arrangement enhances the number significantly; this melancholy yet hauntingly beautiful love song is special when The Lennon Sisters perform it. The CD closes with these ladies singing their hearts out on "You'll Never Walk Alone." "You'll Never Walk Alone" stuns me with its beauty and after I hear it I usually press the play button on my CD player to listen to the entire album all over again!
The Lennon Sisters never disappointed their fans and I highly recommend this for anyone who likes them. These classic pop vocals are enhanced by the singular beauty of the sound of The Lennon Sisters. Indeed, this is such a fine album that I also recommend it for anyone just discovering the captivating artistry of The Lennon Sisters."
