"Can it be? Is this the same Leslie West who could hardly remember the words to "Nantucket Sleighride" 6 years ago? Apparently, the Great Fatsby just keeps getting BETTER with age! "Alligator" was OK, "Dodgin' the Dirt" was good, "Man's World" rocked, but "As Phat as It Gets" rules! Solid songs, great riffs, and that rough-as-ever voice are sure to delight even the most marginal of fans. Rock on, Leslie!"
Thirty years of the Best

"Thirty years after Leslie West : Mountain , here comes the ultimate proof of Leslie's wonderful guitar and vocal power : twelve tracks that raise the roof. His songwriting is superb, particularly "The Cell" ; and the new material blends real well with old Freddie King blues numbers and an update of the famous Atlanta Festival improvisation "Stormy Monday". West has never sounded better. This disc is a delight. Felix once said : I've known him for seven years and I said then he was the best; and he's still the BEST! We've known the Best for thirty years now and this guy is like vintage wine. What a wonderful way to open the new century! A superb buy!"

"Not as good as "Blues To Die For." Better than 4 stars, not quite a 5, but closer to 5 than 4, so it gets the 5. Stormy Monday is a 10. Worth the price just for that one, all the rest are a bonus."
Phat, maybe. Great, not quite.

"Back in the day of LPs and 45s, I got hooked on Mountain, the first incarnation of Leslie West. The Great Fatsby and the Leslie West Band were also worn out spinning around on my turntable. Now, fast forward thirty years and Leslie is still around. One standout on this CD is his rendition of "Stormy Monday," which is quite different than, say Diane Schuur's, and showcases his ability to take a great song, turn it on its ear, and produce something really surprising. This is good solid blues and a worthy addition to your CD library, but not one people are going to be talking about in reverent tones thirty years from now."

Great album. Very clean sounding-Uncluttered production, great original songs in the main-fabulous vocals. Leslie West has an aura of heartfelt passion-what a guitar sound!! Real gutsy music to enjoy and take the blues away-pardon the pun.
Sometimes, in low moods I look through my music collection and find only a handful of artists that play from the heart and produce really meaningful music, leslie West is top of the list. The others well---Trower, Thin Lizzy, Eric, etc------ Hope you enjoy it.
I am sure there are many artists Musicians that play from the heart! Which do you know of?? pblakey33@hotmail.com
