"my gosh i just listened to the most beautiful 13 minutes and 31 seconds:"The Lesson" composed by Stephen Frost; Chandos 9763 Arve Moen Bergset, voice, Bournemouth Sym Orch under Tony Harrison....The Forces used are perfect, mysterious, dramatic, commanding; Arve's gorgeous Nordic voice is so tenderly swooning and heartbreaking, and his falsetto is as touching as his tenor. I am in love with this recording! It's a poem by W.H. Auden from WWII, and the dynamics of the music is like watching a movie of that era... epic... My heart is sad and filled up at the same time. I am so moved. I can't take it out of the player. I'm hooked. I don't want to listen to anything else ever again. I want to savor this moment. (and I'd like to hear more of Bergset's voice on other pieces, but the Frost is very complimentary. GORGEOUS!) I'm going to keep an eye on Stephen Frost... so much passion! I could only compare this to Mahler, but even more exhalting. I have been lifted from the cold winter ground into the ether of the story this piece tells. Wow.Dreamy."
