Playing on L42 Live is inspired

"I sort of stumbled upon this record while browsing Amazon and could not resist the $6.99 price. The lineup on this album is: Mark King - bass & vocals, Nathan King - guitar & vocals, Lyndon Connah - keys & vocals and Sean Freeman - sax & vocals and Gary Husband - drums. The are no liner notes with any credits, only track titles are provided. I was indeed pleasantly surprised with the energy level and quality of the playing on this record. Though, like most, I prefer the classic L42 lineup, these guys are very capable, tight and on top of their game. On these merits (and for the price) I recommend the record. 4 stars.However, shame on the hack that provided the final mix. Tracks end abruptly, track volume is uneven, on the opening track the last few seconds of the previous tune are heard, etc. Certain difficulties are to be expected with a live recording but this was obviously carelessly put together. 2 stars."
