Three years later Helm cut his third solo album, American Son, which Band biographer Barney Hoskyns called the best of Levons solo albums. With the help of some of Nashvilles finest, the album kicks in with the relaxed groove of Watermelon Time in Georgia, the prophetic Hurricane evokes The Band, the harmony rich China Girl is classic Helm and Blue House of Broken Hearts is gospel-soul at its best.
