Start with Diana Krall, Add Style and Stir

"Libby York is frequently compared to Diana Krall and I can see where the comparison comes from. Their voices are similar. But while Diana Krall is doing a wonderful job introducing new people to the wonderful great American songbook, I seldom hear her put her stamp on a tune in a way that makes me want to rush out and own her version. What does Libby York do that Ella Fitzgerald or Frank Sinatra didn't do with these songs? Probably nothing but record them in intimate settings at the height of her vocal powers with all of the nuance of today's recording advances. What does she do that Diana Krall didn't do with these songs? She approaches the lyrics with a sensitivity to meaning, to phrasing, that Krall simply hasn't yet matched."
If you love Krall, Clooney and Christy then this is for you!

"Libby York recalls the best of the classic great female singers from the 40's and 50's - Rosemary Clooney, June Christy, Chris Conner and Julie London. This recording is first-rate all the way working with some great jazz musicians that are on par with the likes of Bill Evans. If you are buying the current crop of jazz sonbirds such as Diana Krall or Jane Monheit...listen to how it's really done and get this CD."
It's a smooth, classy jazz CD
