GIVE IT TO CHARITY INSTEAD

"If you have money to spare and feel like giving some of it away, then I strongly recommend that you purchase this CD and thus help to make the folks at BMG US Latin richer and happier. However, if you value your hard-earned dollars, then stay away from this abomination, because BMG is out to get you and offer you very little in return. This CD contains 8 measly selections. Every single one of which can be had in any other Libertad Lamarque collection on the market. In other words, this is a re-hash of material that has already been re-hashed to death.Madame Lamarque is the greatest female star Argentina ever produced. Her first recording for BMG (then RCA) was made in 1926, her last in 1990. This means she was a BMG staple for over six decades. Yet BMG has retired from the shelves all of her best output and instead gives us the same tracks in collection after collection of greatest hits.Enough! BMG needs to get its act together and start releasing this artist's classic LP's in decent, state-of-the-art sound and packaging. I suggest they start with LA NOVIA DE AMERICA, the definitive LP in Madame Lamarque's discography. BMG NEEDS TO RECALL ALL OF THE LAMARQUE PRODUCT CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET AND START FROM SCRATCH. It is about time this great artist was given due recognition by the company that she helped to make. It is a disgrace that all of the BMG Lamarque compilations offer exactly the same songs, over, and over, and over again.Madame Lamarque is now in her late nineties and is still active on television. No artist in any part of the world that I can think of has had a longer, more enduring career. She has earned the respect and admiration of her public, but not BMG's. I think they owe it to her and to her followers to re-release her classic albums and to stop trying to make an easy buck off of her name."
Libertad Lamarque- Epoca de Oro

"I fully agree with the 8/25/00 review of a Glendale,CA. fan. These "Epoca de Oro" re-issues from BMG offer so little that they could sell 2 for 99 cents and I still wouldn't buy them. They are puny compilations of the same old stuff they'd been peddling for years. As this user rightfully says, Libertad Lamarque was one of Latin America's top singing artists and movie stars for a whooping 7 decades, she recorded for no other label than RCA Victor, now BMG and many of the songs she recorded remain on the vaults. For example all her famous duets with the late singer Pedro Vargas have not been re-issued. This "Epoca de Oro" lilliputian release of the same old stuff is not worth a penny."
Another Insult from BMG Latin!

"First of all I must confess I did not buy this CD. Why should I? It has the same songs that BMG Latin has been serving in one way or another for the past twenty years... If you were to judge Miss Lamarque's extraordinary recording career by these BMG releases you'd come to the conclusion that this artist only recorded two or three songs every ten years! BMG has in its vault the whole Lamarque output but the executives of this firm are so stupid that they don't know what to do with it...It is sad and unfair to music collectors everywhere... If I were not a lady I would tell BMG where to stick this "Epoca de Oro" CD."
