"At least you won't be ashamed of yourself humming these tunes ... This album is very listener-friendly, drenched in San Francisco overtones (both lyrical and musical). The title tune, "Cafe Con Leche" and "Soundman" are picture-perfect examples of 2-minute-song-as-art-form. A tight and unobtrusive band backs her up, and her voice (often overdubbed) is front and center here, unlike her outings with Husikesque. Breezy, yet intelligent. Likeable out of the box!"
Perfect pop from a constantly changing artist

"Lida Husik seems to have a different feel on every cd she puts out. This one focuses on her pop sensibility, and dreamy vocals. She puts together songs that stay in your head, and never get old. "Chocolate City" just has a great beat to it, and makes you feel like you're right there in the happy scene she describes. The mixture of reggae and bagpipes in "Dancing Pants" is adventurous, and Lida is the only person i can think of to pull it off this well. Although she is amazing on her more trip-hop inspired work with Beaumont Hannant, she truly knows how to craft the perfect pop song, and she never shouts: she just whispers beautifully."

"this record has a hazy touch and a clutch of simple but immediate melodies with chiming guitars and just enough keyboard burbles to make it perfectly trad yet modern pop. her voice is undemonstrative but not detached, sometimes husky, sometimes girlish. the ingredients may not be unique but lida really does it better and more individually than many others. a lot of cool stuff on this and most other (but not all) of her records."
Pure fun and extremely cool pop music

"It really sounds to me like the artist is enjoying performing these songs, and the vibe is totally catchy. You cannot help but MOVE to the sounds here. It seems a crime that more people are not familiar with this artist, and particularly this cd. This recording has a bit of a retro feel to it, but the sounds are so fresh and modern, it is just too cool. Listen alone, or better yet share with a friend! You'll be glad you did!"
Hypnotic, captivating and downright beautiful

"Those three very words are how I would describe Lida's music....incredible!
Lida doesn't seem to be well-known, but is a very gifted artist.
This album in particular has one of the highest ratio of my favorite Lida songs. Definately worth checking out. You can thank us few reviewers later."
