"In an interview a few years back, Gladys Knight listed Linda Jones among her favorite singers. That recommendation alone should merit Jones with further observtion. "20 Golden Classics" is an interesting trip to the mind of a woman on the flip side of the romantic spectrum. Here Linda pleads, screams, shakes and yes,lectures with the intensity of the gospel singer through twenty of her most memorable tunes. Notwithstanding, there are a few forgettable tracks, but only a few, the rest are rediscovered delights, from "Cant Stop Loving My Baby" which has a delicious pop feel, to "Take This Boy Out Of The Country" perhaps the most electrifying and driven dance tunes ever recorded. All it will take is one, perhaps two listens to discover this forgotten soul diva who was the forerunner for today's Mariah Carey and Patti LaBelle. Jones's death in 1972 prevented her from gaining further exposure. The exposure she so richly deserves."

"This CD is the only Jones CD that covers her entire career, but is dubbed from disc and sounds appalling. Although restricted to her All Platinum recordings, the 'Your Precious Love" collection is at least taken from original tapes, although recording quality is not perfect.Followers of the deep soul movement of the early '70s will definitely find the late Ms. Jones to their taste."

"I fell in love with this singer in the '60s-'70s time frame while living in New York. She was way ahead of her time with her ear-piercing, soul-scorching vocals, but once I bought the CD I was in for the shock of my life. The master tapes must have been buried with Linda, because they're not here on disc! This disc is full of snap-crackles-and-pops and reminiscent of LPs found at a flea market! Shame on the producers and engineers attempting to pass worn vinyl off on CD."
