After delivering her heaviest material on Dangerous Curves, Lita Ford went right off the road into Melissa Etheridge-4 Non Blondes territory. She even adopted some whiskey-soaked blues, with harmonicas wailing all over the place. Lita can't resist shredding here and there, and really brings the metal on "Boilin' Point", but overall it's a mature departure from the sound that made her famous. One can't blame her for chilling out and going alternative, as she'd been partying nonstop for 20 years.

Lita Goes Back To Basics

"I like "Black" very much, and feel it was undeservedly un-noticed. With "Black" Lita's talented guitar playing takes the front seat. The keyboards prevalent on her previous 3 albums are only featured on a handful of tracks on "Black". This CD features something for every mood: rockers, ballads, and an instrumental too. In my opinion, the tracks "Black" and "Fall" have a grunge sound to them, which was a different musical direction for Lita. My favorite tracks are "Loverman", "Killin' Kind", and "Boilin' Point". My only disappointment with "Black" is that Lita had written with Gene Simmons, but none of their collaborations were included on the album."

"I love Lita Ford and I love this ablum. The song black is sexy! and Hammerhead rocks. As well as a real sad song on there Called War of the anegls that song is very touching. I am so happy that Amazon has this cd available because I was having hard time finding it. It had been out of print. Lita Rules!!!!"
