Album DescriptionLittle Barrie are a strange entity. The Edwyn Collins-produced three-piece have fed on some pretty wide-ranging influences to produce 'Long Hair'. With a guitar riff which sounds like a lightened-up, acoustic version of the Black Sabbath classic 'War Pigs' (!), and vocals uncomfortably close to the self-conscious style of Jamiroqui, you might expect this to be a disaster of a single. Not so. This is loose, funky stuff - and it makes you want to dance. There are even elements of 'Loaded'-era Primal Scream in there somewhere. Backed by a Stereo MC's remix and a half-decent demo track, 'Long Hair' is a promising tilt at the mainstream. Genuine Records. 2005.
