East Los Angeles Legend

"Very nice return from the great Willie G. (little Willie G.) of the legendary band from East L.A. Thee Midnighters. Wille also a former lead vocalist for the latin rock band "Malo">(Ascencion) album. known for his soulful voice and great vibrato control, Willie was a pro in his teens with all the showmanship and attitude of a seasoned veteran. For those of you interested in this great vocalist check out the old Lp's of Thee Midnighters with a great horn section and fellow band mate Romeo Prado, who by the way does his horn arrangements on this solo project. You will find some old Midnighters tunes redone here in "Come Back Baby", "It'll Never Be Over For Me" and the classic "To Be With You". He also has some very inspirational tunes here as the older fans know that Willie is a very devoted spiritual singer and has been the one of the people that was inspirational in starting the Victory Outreach Church and programs. Also try the Malo album "Ascencion" which is one of the bands finest. Very nice indeed from a man that has come a long way through a tough life of music."

"I had never heard music like this before. Or at least nothing matchful. Carlos Santana is the best guitarist, and Little Willie G. for sure is the best to come out of East L.A. and not only that but really does surpasses all most of these new singers."

"In the tradition of the great soul singers of the early 60's, Little Willie G. bares his heart and seems to have a good time while doing so. Why it's taken him so long, since his days with Thee Midniters and Malo, to record again would be interesting to know but nevertheless what a marvalous collection of songs and what a delight to hear this icon of East Los Angeles still in great form and voice. I recommend this CD to all who have ears to hear! Great lyrics, wonderful arrangements played by skilled musicians and produced by another East L.A. ledgend, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, what a combination of talent."
