"I have yet to find ANY artist that recorded on the Specialty label that I don't like. Lloyd Price of course, is no exception. This one is worth picking up if you're wanting to get a taste of that 50's R&B sound. Full of false starts and breakdown chatter adds to the *real* feeling of this alblum. This is Rockin' blues at its best! Buy it! I also recommend the 2nd volume as a follow up to this alblum. You really can't go wrong with any of the Legends of Specialty series."
A perfect example of classic New Orleans r'n'b,

"You can't go wrong with "The Legends of Specialty" series, and this is no exception. Lloyd Price was a great talent and songwriter in the early '50's. I feel that he was somewhat overlooked even at the time.
This is an excellent collection of songs and I recommend it along with Lloyd Price's companion CD, "Heavy Dreams, Vol.2", also in the Specialty series.
I'm not sure, but I have heard that it was Fats Domino on piano in these sessions."
