"The egregious transcendence of Karl Haas seems to be overlooked and ignored in those days. His relevance as leader conductor simply overpasses the limits of the serene perfection, eloquent expressiveness, overpowering musicality. and scintillating dynamism. Among the distinguished members of his ensemble there are two who deserve your attention: the legendary Denis Brain and Gervaise de Pleyer.
To be completely honest, there has been a certain disdain for reissuing his previous works such as his famous and - to my mind - the most emblematic, superb and unequalled set of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (recorded in 1952) as well as other not less remarkable chamber works he made for Westminster label.
These three Serenades are performed with peerless lyricism, unerring vitality and sheer commitment. And I think to myself how many other performances are capable to equal these?
If you are really disposed to get masterful performances of these three amazing chamber works, don't hesitate just a second and order it now. You will always be rewarded.
