"Long John Hunter most certainly deserves the title of Border Town Legend. After serving years playing the blues in the bars and roadhouses along the El Paso/ Mexican border, he is finally getting some recognition nation wide, with cd's such as Border Town Legend. Hunter plays a hard driving Texas blues which will stand the test with the clientele who he has played for during his lengthy career. Long John was born in 1931 and has been playing the blues most of his adult life. He is certainly skilled at the guitar and has influenced such bluesmen as Lonnie Brooks and Philip Walker.Rooster and the Hen aptly demonstrates his skill with the guitar and reflects the wry humor, which permeates the cd. Other original songs of note are Nasty Ways, T-Bone Intentions and Road Hog.It is certainly good to see long time blues veterans such as Long John Hunter getting some recognition to day."

"Being that I live in El Paso, TX, I have had the oportunity to see Mr. Hunter live on several occasions. He pretty much started here and played in Juarez Mexico also. The man has paid his dues. He is a real down to earth cat and deserves more reconition than he has. I own everything he has released including a few imports. If you ever get a chance to see him live, do not miss it."
