CD ReviewsLost classic from the Cotique catalog. coa1881 | New York, NY USA | 10/30/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "A classic! Not a throw-away track in sight. This album swings hard because they use a full band (trumpets, Trombones, and Saxophones) and drum set added to the regular latin percussionists. The arrangements are great and best of all Santitos and Menique are in top form. The best track is "La Era del Boton." Personnel is not listed but one could discern Adalberto Santiago, Justo Betancourt and Marcelino Guerra in coro. Produced by Larry Harlow and arranged by Louie Cruz, Sonny Bravo and Louis Ramirez. Try to guess the timbales player. I think it is Little Louie Romero. Whoever it is he's doing a great job!
You need to buy this album if you want real New York latin swing. Santos Colon and Menique (both Tito Puente alumni) are great soneros." |
