Search - Lost and Found :: Speedwood Hymns

This is a collection of traditional hymns, performed and recorded by LOST AND FOUND. Though the songs are traditional and well known, the style is traditional only to those who have seen and heard LOST AND FOUND for years. We play the songs in our usual acoustic thrash style, and sing them with the urgency we think they deserve. The whole idea for this CD grew out of our desire that more people, especially those worshipping in congregations using contemporary worship songs, or, choruses, would have the chance to consider the rich hymnody of the Church. It seems to us that many people have dismissed the hymns because they only think of hymns as agonizingly slow, requiring immense musical and vocal skill, and always including a pipe organ. We think the content of the songs as well as the tunes are worth recovering and conserving. In fact, the content, we think, is so significant in some of these hymns, that they are worthy of further discussion along the lines of poetry. While we understand the need and desire for simpler songs with words that are easily understood on the very first read, we also think there is room for these more meaty theological songs in the worship life of the Church. We grew up singing these songs and 560 others in this vein and we d like our listeners to sing and appreciate them as well.
