Authentic Cajun music with energy & a smile
John H. Luhn | tampa, fl United States | 05/23/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Just caught these guys last week-end in Tampa at The Tropical HeatWave music festival and can testify that they had the entire Ballroom in a joyous frenzy. Their energy is electric and the music authentic. Seeing them live should be a sure-shot goal if you have the chance; but their music transcends the visual and will get to you by the end of the first cut. Louie Michot is the real deal when it comes to fiddle playing and his energy sparks the talent & enthusiasm of the rest of the boys (two of whom are his brothers). If you have a heart for a great Cajun, you wont regret buying without being able to sample. Go for it & share it with your friends."
A Bridge To Yesterday
K. Fontenot | The Bayou State | 11/20/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"While many modern Cajun bands emphasize gimmicky tunes and meld multiple genres in order to generate success(think Wayne Toups), the Lost Bayou Ramblers stand firmly against the tide by playing tunes that sound just as comfortable in the modern world as they would in the days of such greats as the Balfa Brothers, Nathan Abshire, and Joe Falcon. In fact, I'll stick my neck out and say that the Lost Bayou Ramblers are probably the best modern Cajun group around these days.

They sound great on tunes like "Moi J'Connais Pas" and "Raine Stomp." Also, tunes like "Louisiana Boogie Woogie" let you know that the Michot brothers know where they came from AND where they are going. This album is perfect for anyone longing to hear music from the good ol' days. I have no problem playing this for my father, because I know he won't be hearing a sell out artist when he hears these guys play.

My favorite tunes on this album are "Holly Beach" and "Tu Peut Cogner." I'm sure you'll love this album as well. Highly recommended, and I can't forget to mention the wonderful liner notes supplied on this disc by one Ryan A. Brasseaux. He manages to give you an expertly written introduction to the Ramblers and a little bit of a history lesson. All around, this is one good album."
A Cajun Renaissance

"I first saw Lost Bayou Ramblers at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival this year, and followed that terrific show up with their club gig at DBA the next night. What a blast. Despite their youth, the Ramblers have reached back in time to the swamps of their native Louisiana to not only recreate timeless cajun classics, but also to compose and perform their own "new classics." Pilette Breakdown is an excellent album for true lovers of "real" cajun music but, like all great cajun music, it's hard to keep from dancing while your are listening to it. If you ever have the opportunity to see the Ramblers live, with a cold Abita in your hand, don't miss it."
