"This is a poorly conceived promotion to capitalize on what would have been Louie's 100th birthday which has since been disputed to be a different day (not 7/4/1900)so the very idea is just dumb. Also, the notes are cursory, at best. However, the music is from the RCA Victor material, some from the 30's, some from 47', is premium Satch. The RCA material was previously available in a more exhaustive 4 disc set which is now out of print and a 1 disc distillation, 'Sugar'. This 2 disc set falls somewhere in between, it includes 'Cabin in the Pines', which is real nice. 'Sugar' has a track of Satch playing trumpet with Jimmie Rodgers, so that set may be of a more historic importance. Either way, any of this RCA material is high quality (before Pops got all "pop"), worth hearing, worth having."
