Synopsis

Amazon.com
Louise Taylor is a folkie singer/songwriter/guitarist whose vivid lyrics are stronger than her ordinary melodies. Ruby Shoes was produced by Windham Hill founder Will Ackerman with help from such Windham Hill artists as Virginia bassist Michael Manring. The mostly drummer-less arrangements are often too laid back, but her words perk things up, as when she describes her heart, abandoned "in the back of a rusty pickup truck, restless and rolling like an old beer can." In contrast to Gallup's narratives, Taylor prefers miniature studies, where she describes a childhood friend's toothy smile, a hometown sidewalk, or a photo in a silver locket in such detail that a whole world is implied. --Geoffrey Himes

Mary Chapin-Carpenter, eat your heart out, THIS is talent.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw her at a folk festival in Washington D.C. and was blown away! She did a small exhibition of her song paintings to an enraptured crowd @ 3:00AM in a hotel suite that was shut down by security, not because she was making too much noise, but because the overflow crowd was blocking the hallway, and was deemed a fire hazard. She can sing, play, write, perform, and look better doing it than any of the more established singer/songwriters out there today. She deserves a much wider audience!"
