Synopsis
Album Description Raven Records have striped bare the band's first four albums of every track of consequence, thrown in rare singles b-sides and sampler LP tracks, and arrived at one of the great CD experiences of the closing moments of the twentieth century (would we lie to you?!). The anthology is jammed to the gunwales with 73 minutes of entrancing music. Its 16-page booklet is graced with informed words, highlighted by original photos and presented with tasteful artwork. LOVE COMES IN COLOURS is an anthology yardstick. From '7 AND 7 IS' to 'ALONE AGAIN OR', the complete Love experience is mapped out here. This compilation is proof, if any were needed, that Love laid a blueprint that few could follow. While Arthur Lee has made sporadic attempts at a comeback, this set proves beyond doubt that he's already achieved more than most can only dream of. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsThe tip of the iceberg James J. Jenkins | Weare, NH United States | 05/07/2004 (3 out of 5 stars) "I'll admit that when it comes to Arthur Lee and Love, I am a completist. Therefore, I would warn against anybody buying a compilation of their first four albums, since it will only make you want to buy the complete albums. I read the comments previously made about this collection, and I agree that "Mushroom Clouds" is a noticable omission. However, as everyone knows, to listen to an incomplete "Forever Changes" is a crime ("The Red Telephone" is one of my favorites, and is also missing.) Now, if finances are your excuse, the Love Story collection has a complete "Forever Changes" so at least buy that over this disc. But trust me, you will regret not investing in the complete albums. I made that mistake with Nick Drake when I bought "Way to Blue" only to go on and buy each of his albums and make the first purchase a waste of money." The best of Love garbonzo | here, now | 11/09/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "Love is one of the most overlooked bands of the late 60's. Their first three albums are all classics. If you only want one disc by them, this is the one. The only song I wish was on here that isn't is "Maybe the People Would Be the Times (Between Clark and Hilldale)". Still great though."
