The Native American flute was originally linked to love and romance. It was known as the 'courting' flute and used by young men to serenade women as part of the courting process. It was believed that the courting melodies would act as 'love medicine' and cast a spell to open the heart of the listener. This CD presents both traditional Native American courting flute songs, performed on the solo flute, as well as more modern compositions which are often based on traditional courting melodies. They feature the Native flute, acoustic guitar, percussion and other instruments.
