Synopsis

Product Description
The Danger Kitty story was part of a brilliant ad campaign by the Discover Card company back in 2001. But there's more to the story than just that one advertisement.

Most people assumed that Danger Kitty wasn't a real band, and rightfully so. The advertisement was clearly mocking the 80's glam rock culture, but Danger Kitty is technically a real band. Any of you who are familiar with the glam parody band "Metal Skool" (formerly "Metal Shop") will instantly recognize them as being the same guys from Danger Kitty.

Granted, Danger Kitty didn't actually release an album way back in 1983, or any full album for that matter. They did, however, manage to release the "Love Rocket" single though, and for a brief time you could actually go to the Danger Kitty web site and order a copy of it for FREE - amazingly without even being added to some Discover Card mailing lists or anything.

The CD is hot pink (naturally) and features a little bit more info on the band, including the names of each member Michael Diamond, Rikki Ratchet, Ginger Roxx, and Blackhead. Absolutely classic. Also included, on the inside of the booklet, are a bunch of Danger Kitty photos of their live performances, working at a hot dog stand after the band broke up, and even a golden toilet (which one of them presumably had installed in their mansion).

It's a perfect spoof that belongs right up there with Spinal Tap, but being part of a credit card commercial, it will obviously never achieve that kind of status. But hey, at least Metal Skool continues to thrive on Sunset Boulevard, and one can only hope that they'll bust out their unsung "Love Rocket" tune every now 'n then for the fans.

The song itself is just what you'd expect - a perfect mocking of 80's glam. The lyrics say it all. It's a perfect spoof that belongs right up there with Spinal Tap.
