Synopsis

Album Description
a review of 'Every Other Moment' by Tom Semioli, Amplifier, July 2004: Drama rockers Low-Beam turn up the emotion quotient on this hazy, romantic collection of sound collages which slowly emerge into actual songs. Akin to My Bloody Valentine, Jesus and Mary Chain and Velvet Underground, this somnambulant New London foursome wrap linear melodies in thick, nocturnal textures forged from droning motifs which fit snugly in the confines of their ambitious compositions. Keyboardist Jaimee Weatherbee and guitarist CJ Stankewich navigate the murky mayhem with angelic vocals rendered in tandem, affording Low-Beam a unique, instantly-identifiable character. Drummer Richard Freitas steers 'Rocky Point' and 'Airstream' from veering off the no rock abyss with jazzy double time high-hat and ride rhythms. Stankewich and Weatherbee each take turns at pop stardom, the former on the buoyant 'Tuffy Rhodes' and the latter crooning on the disjointed torch song 'Tourmaline'. Though only thirty minutes in length, 'Every Other Moment' is a swirling roller-coaster ride! of nocturnal pleasure and pain.
