"This album is a wonderful anomoly in the world of hip-hop. Lucas' production is unlike anything that has been done before or since. On 'Born', he raps "I never listen to another rapper too hard- I gotta be me!" and it's not empty bragging; his beats and rhyming styles are some of the most unique and nonderivative I've heard. He was really able to get across a sense of himself as an individual on this album, both musically and verbally, something that is especially rare for a hip-hop album. For that reason, Lucacentric has always had a special place in my music collection, and it should in yours, too."
Where did this genius go?

"I was totally floored by this album which I bought after seeing the video for Lucas with the lid off on MTV. It was the most incredible alternative video I had ever seen, aside from the fact that the song is just so infectious. I'm not a rap fan, and this is not really rap, but Lucas does blend the best of the genre with jazz and alternative music. Can Amazon find us that video! And by the way, what has Lucas done since releasing this album? I have a feeling that this debut release was just so good that it couldn't be improved in a follow-up album."

"This is in response to the one poster wondering if Amazon has the music video to 'Lucas with the lid off'..

They do and it can be found on the Director's Series Vol. 3 DVD of Michel Gondry's work found here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000DBJ9J/qid=1126292027/sr=8-4/ref=pd_bbs_4/103-1625886-2193408?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846

I do, however, suggest getting the whole box set as the Director's Series DVD's are *excellent* and worth every penny.
