A contemporary of Schumann's, Stephen Heller was a Hungarian pianist and composer, the author of several works and collections of studies of great didactical value and uncommon lyricism. His catalogue includes 158 opus numbers, almost all piano works, and several unnumbered pieces. Like Schumann, he wrote an opus entitled Kinderszene (Op. 124); it is presented here, for the first time together with Notenbuch für Klein und Gross (Op. 138). In these two collection of works, with remarkable sensitivity and a very evocative style, Heller takes us back to the world of childhood.
