Beautiful and moving choral music of the great Colombian composer Luis Antonio Escobar. The Americas Vocal Ensemble, Nelly Vuksic, Conductor and Music Director, will present Escobars "Canticas", musical gems based on traditional "coplas" from the rich folklore of Colombia and "Madrigales" that set to music the poetry of such outstanding Colombian poets as Leon de Greiff, Jorge Rojas and Giovanni Quessep. Originally recorded in Bogota in 1982, Canticas y Madrigales is a moving tribute to the great 20th Century Colombian composer Luis Antonio Escobar. The Americas Vocal Ensemble premiered his Canticas y Madrigales at the Americas Society in New York City and in Washington D.C.?s Organization of American States in 1983 and since then these works have been an important part of its repertory.
