Album Description* This recording was made during Flamenco por el Mundo, a show created by Luis de la Carrasca featuring artists from the Gypsy, Spanish, and Andalusian communities. * The show is firmly anchored in the present while drawing inspiration from tradition. Forcefully and with moving sincerity, the artists express joy and sorrow through song and poetry. We find ourselves reveling in the warmth and passion at the heart of flamenco. * Flamenco music has become more diverse in recent years while still respecting tradition and traditional themes--love and passion, life and death. Luis de la Carrasca also takes inspiration from contemporary social issues. * His latest show presents songs, sung poetry, flamenco music, and dancing alongside elements from other cultures with the aim of breaking down frontiers and bringing all men and women together in a spirit of solidarity. * Born in Andalusia, Luis de la Carrasca has lived in Avignon for the past seventeen years. His company, Flamenco Vivo, mixes artists of Spanish, Andalusian, and Gypsy origin with musicians from across the globe.
