If you were stuck on an urban island and could play only one kids' record that wouldn't drive you and the children nuts with repeated plays, this would have to be it. Connie Kaldor, the great Canadian chanteuse, and the le... more »sser known Carmen Campagne, have created one of the most exquisitely lovely records in any genre. Kaldor's "I Have You" speaks to so many soulful truths about a mother's love for a child in the face of all the world's riches and distractions that it ought to be required listening for all expecting--and current--parents. Kaldor and Campagne's "Dream Baby," adapted to Debussy's "Clair de Lune," is as grandly inspired as the rest of the record is simply beautiful, and the arrangements are stunning. Half the disc is sung in French, which--aside from sounding at times like the pop symphony of the last half of Abbey Road--adds a poetic dimension to the moving harmonies, rich colors, and joyful highs found throughout the 13 tracks. A must-have (plus you and the little ones might even learn a little French by the 130th spin). --Martin Keller« less

"Sell the ranch if you must, but get this cd, and all of the others by Connie Kaldor. "Small Cafe" is available in the U.S.. From Canada, you can get "Gentle of Heart", "Out of the Blue", "Wood River", "Moonlight Grocery", "Love is a Truck". She is in a league of her own."
A lullaby collection that YOU will love too..

"Soothing at any time when you or baby needs to relax. The songs are varied and complex enough to satisfy music lovers, whether they be folkies or classical music lovers. The only thing I didn't like is the sound "wah-wah" of a baby at the beginning of the first song! Who needs it ?! But the rest is pure enjoyment. Baby goes to sleep by the second or third song and I often listen to many more of the songs before tiptoeing out of the room...It is my favorite, with Linda Ronstadt's lullaby CD coming in second place."
Highly recommended for all parents searching for a creative

"Lullaby Berceuse: A Warm Prairie Night, features stories and songs by Connie Kaldor and Carmen Campagne with illustrations from Brian Deines and is a remarkable storybook, enhanced with the addition of a thirteen track CD compiling songs and story for bed-time. Offering a tracklist of All Through The Night (3:36), Prairie Lullaby (2:50), Lullaby, Lullaby (3:12), I Have You (2:31), Dream Baby L'elefant des Reves (4:35), I've Been Told (1:17), Hushaby (3:12), Bonne nuit (2:36), La poulette grise (2:44), Petit bebe (2:25), Maman fait dodo (3:38), Berceuse pour Emanuel Reuben James (2:06), and Isabeau (2:18), Lullaby Berceuse carries its young listeners and readers swiftly through a soothing collection to a quick and silent sleep. Lullaby Berceuse is very highly recommended for all parents searching for a creative sleep-aide for their child for its effective ability to put children into a restful peace. Also very highly recommended from The Secret Mountain is The Fabulous Song (2923163176, [...]) by Don Gillmor with illustrations from Marie-Louise Gay and music by Michelle Campagne and Davy Gallant.

Delightful. Lullabies being sung how they _should_ be sung!

"That is, mellow and soothing, as opposed to high and sharp! Just compare the quite low tone of Connie Kalder's voice on this collection with the high, shrill sharpness of Susie Tallman's voice and the difference is marked. So much more relaxing and effective to hear lullabies sung with a soothing lower voice than to be jolted wide awake by a sudden sharp, high-pitched jarring effect as unfortunately happened more than once on the lullaby albums I've heard by Susie Tallman.
As for this collection, not only are the songs restful to listen to, the book accompanying them is very nice too. Altogether, a joy."
My favorite lullaby tape!!

"I've been looking for this for years and years! My 16 year old still asks me to sing these songs. I'm going to quickly buy the CD so I can give it to her for a special occasion. The songs are so soothing and were part of our nightly ritual when she was little!"
