Lye By Mistake's unique blend of metal, grind, jazz, and progressive rock could be ignortantly dimissed as an imitation of previous bands; however, this is simply not the case. "If you like technical/spastic metal with a little jazz, etc., then these guys will be right up your alley. If you hate that kind of music, you might want to look elsewhere. Fans of John Zorn, Dillinger Escape Plan, Mr. Bungle, The Locust, etc. will enjoy. The songwriting is completely odd and the musicianship is nothing short of astounding."
