Acclaimed for her delicate tone poems and musical daydreams, award-wining pianist and composer Lynn Yew Evers moves in a new direction on her latest CD Single, Oriental Moon. Beginning life as a song with Chinese lyrics, Oriental Moon was inspired childhood memories of the Spring Lantern Festival, back in Lynn s hometown in Malaysia. As she began to improvise, nostalgia for bygone times gave way to a different sense of longing and dreams of returning to her new home. The wistful mood is perfectly conveyed in the breathy tones of Ron Korb s flutes, and the magic of the moonless night lit by thousands of paper lanterns, is beautifully expressed in Trammell Starks soaring, cinematic orchestrations. Oriental Moon, builds upon her highly successful album, Elysian with its unique blend of contemporary eastern and western styles of music, but also marks a new direction, introducing new instrumental sounds and a bolder, more confident sound to her musical concepts.
