There are a number of great hip-hop mix CDs--check out Amazon.com's article on 1998's best--but Laid in Full stands out even among such august company. M-Boogie has established a phenomenal roster of MCs here, from KRS-One... more », who contributes the opening vocal, to underground stars Mos Def and Kool Keith (whose collaboration with DJ Spooky, "Object Unknown," is a highlight) to up-and-comers like Planet Asia and Iriscience (of Dilated Peoples)--and that doesn't even mention the people behind the boards and on the turntables who show up here, too (Peanut Butter Wolf, Kut Master Kurt, the Beat Junkies' DJ Babu, and on and on). "This cd is on mad rotation in my car. I've listened to it over and over without ever touching the fast forward button. From KRS-One's intro to Iriscience's versin of On Deadly Ground to the incredible flow of Planet Asia, this cd is just plain dope on plastic."
