Wonderful debut

"I thought that Men at Large made a strong first album back in 1992. It came at a good time too, since they were one of three R&B artists Gerald Levert produced that year (Gerald himself included) that had hits. But these big guys have some powerful singing voices! They were like the Ruben Studdards of back then in terms of strong singing talent. I still love So Alone, which sounded so good in the cold nights of winter 1992/93. They've got some funky numbers on here where they just party it up. But why they weren't given a stronger push on East West/Atlantic Records in the '90s is beyond me. They were one of the underrated R&B artists at the time, and I want to give their respect due with this review."

Men at Large coming out in a Large Way

"This debut album released by the Cleveland OH duo, Men at Large in 1992, was right in line with the other male based groups at that time(LeVert, BBD/New Edition, Silk, Boys II Men, Today, Basic Black and other new jack swing groups.)



Men at Large brought us something we had never seen before, two big brothers who could sing and dance, which was quite different at the time.



The first single of this cd, Use Me, came out in April '92 and immediately became a top 10 radio hit and got major play on BET's Video Soul with Donnie Simpson and Sherry Carter.



Their second single, a slow jam called UM UM good, went on to hit #1 on the R&B charts in the summer of '92 and was a smash hit.



Their most popular song off the album, So Alone, was a very sad song which talked about losing a loved one and being left all alone. This song also got plenty of radio play.



Other good songs on this album were: Stay the Night, You Me, and Aint it grand.



It was pretty decent for a debut album, but their second album really put them on the map."
