(5 out of 5 stars)
"Released in the late 50's or early 60's, this "Tico Records" album is a best selling classic. Machito, the hottest latin jazz big band in New York during the 40's and 50's interpretation of Roger Mozian's "Asia Minor" (which he previously recorded during the late 40's for another label), is perhaps the best of all versions. This album also features, "El Campesino", "Quimbombo","No Me Molesto", "Cha Cha Cha Pa'Guarachar","Besame La Bembita", "El Bodeguero, renamed "Chocolate Cha Cha Cha", for non-spanish speaking audiences,"El Gallo Blanco",Chano Pozo's "El Bejuco", "Para Bailar Cha Cha Cha","Tibiri Tabara" and a breathtaking adaptation of "My Sleeping Heart" to bolero mambo rhythm. This compilation was a best seller in its vynil format and has done equally well on CD format. A must buy for all Machito and latin jazz big bands fans!"
