Dubmaster Mad Professor returns with chapter 5 of his Black Liberation Dub album series, a rootsy dub collection recalling the sound of his idol Lee "Scratch" Perry and promoting the welfare of black people everywhere. Horns bounce in and out of snippets of sociopolitical lyrics while guitar phases up and down like a playful flying saucer. "Confa Dance" twists bongos into an animated drum & bass number while "Digital Delight" travels to outer space for a yummy sandwich of fat bass and groovy keys. "Hard Working Dub" espouses positive thinking over vintage-style ska horns and a shuffling beat while "Studio 54 Dub" uses Blondie's "Rapture" melody and a chimey Claptonesque guitar for a juicy disco dub trip. "Most devotees of "World Music" are familiar with the Reggae sounds coming out of Jamaica. Unfortunately, their experience usually begins and ends with Bob Marley. Then there is "Dub". Dub is when an audio artist takes a given musical track and performs radical remixing surgery. It really has to be experienced in order to appreciate it fully. "Afrocentric Dub" is a good place to start. It has good a good beat and you can dance to it. Well, not really dance, more like sway in time to the beat. This is one of the "Mad Professor's" more accessible recordings. There is a whole new world out there."
