MAGGIE'S VOICE IS SO CLOSE TO EDNA GALLMAN COOKE IT'S PROBLE

(5 out of 5 stars)

"She's right up there with some of the best vocalists of the early 60's! There was MORE than enough material on Maggie Ingram that we should have been treated to a beefed up 28 (Twenty-Eight) or 29 (Twenty-Nine) Tracks! Which would have been real nice, but at this point we'll have to settle for this 14 (Fourteen) Track collection, and even this is Out Of Print!, So read and move quick!!!

These are True-To-The-Bone 60's Gospel Recordings at it's best! A real nice collection. I've never been too crazy about children (The Ingramettes) singing, but these children (The Ingramettes) can sing!, Opps!, I mean sang!!! They are featured singing background on 14 (Fourteen) tracks on this Compact Disc, 2 (Two) tracks feature The Six Trumpets on background vocals, and 3 (Three) feature The Silver Stars which Maggie was the Lead Singer in BOTH Groups. It should also be noted that Nashboro Records released an Album in 1968 under the name: Maggie Ingram and The Ingramettes entitled: "America's Favorite Spiritual Singing Family". This album was pretty much a compilation of Singles and a handful of New Recordings. Of the 10 (Ten) Tracks on that album this Compact Disc only includes 2 (Two) selections. Although there's an Alternate Version of "This Is That" on this Compact Disc it does NOT sound like an Alternate Version, but an earlier version and/or a Demo. "Everything God Make's Is Good" is also listed as an Alternate Version on this Compact Disc this is NOT an Alternate Version, but an early version featuring The Silver Stars on background vocals. The version on the Album (Vinyl) is a 1967 or 1968 remake featuring The Ingramettes on background vocals! More research should have been put into this project, but again it's still worth investing in. And as far as the Complier (Opal Nation) stating that they (The new crew at Nashboro) pick out what THEY thought were the best songs...Shouldn't that have been a call WE the buying public could have and/or should have made? In closing I still say More Music For Our Bucks!!!"
