Magical Power Mako goes insane beautiful radio-poppy!

"From 1995 this Features performances by underground popstars Reira & Asuka on a few tracks, as well as a couple traditional Japanese folk songs. This one has confused fans of his classic pychedelic stuff (Blue Dot, and Music from Heaven), but this is one of my favorites. Tuned into Magical Power Mako radio's changing menu of Lo Pop Diamonds as we go from compressed YMO style nuggets to Shonen Knife-like pop, robotic lo-fi, Faust-like off-kilter gibber and wiggle, spacious easy listening with waves, gulls, and a shimmering mirage of white light dancing, a parade of ceremonial drummers and flute players marches by,everything has a Sun Ra sort of extraterrestrial longing, a White Album/Beatles fragmented diversity and song-cycling completeness, delivering us intact into the waiting arms of sleepy forgetfulness and the drizzle of rain falling forever in our dreams, until the tape runs out and the CD's over. An essential album, but you need the other three insanely inexpensive Atavistic reissues of MPM's great work too!"
